As an expressionist, dancer, and musician Reinel Bakole brings forth the power of non-rational knowledge into her show Erotic Functions. Evoking Audre Lorde’s “Uses of The Erotic”, Reinel’s sensuous sonic narration taps into our inner sources of life force. The show drifts between Black music, interviews, soundtracks, and evocative raw recordings of outings, as glimpses of untold stories unfurl its meaning beyond temporal or geographic constraints. In a strive for collective healing, Reinel blends powerful speeches from hand-picked authors and activists with ephemeral aural material.
