FROM

FROM is the alias of Fernando Romero, a jazz pianist, tape-obsessed producer, independent label manager and punkish musician from Asturias, where coal mines meet the Cantabrian Sea. His music feels pulled from the static between these landscapes: cassette rips, minimal-wave drum machines, warped melodies and dubby electronics rub against each other like rain on mine shafts, salt on rust, and fog moving through the northern hills. There is something tender beneath the lo-fi abrasion, a pop sensibility continually disappearing into noise.
